Joyce Carol Oates is the winner of the inaugural Stone Award for Literary Achievement, presented by Oregon State University. As part of the festivities, community members are invited to participate in book discussions, co-hosted by the MFA Program in Creative Writing and MA Program in English at OSU, the Corvallis-Benton County Public Library, and Grass Roots Books & Music. This two-part event will be led by MA and MFA candidates from Oregon State University’s English department. A short story --"At the Seminary", available in the book High Lonesome: New & Selected Stories, 1966 - 2006-- will be discussed on April 28, and will be used to inspire writing exercises in a workshop on May 5.
